Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz Reunite on ‘The Mummy’ Set After 25 Years
The two were photographed in costume in London this week, their first on-set reunion since 2001’s The Mummy Returns. The new sequel is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and is expected in theaters on Oct. 15, 2027.

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz were photographed together in costume on the set of the new Mummy sequel this week. The photos, published on Wednesday, show the two smiling side by side in London. It is their first on-set reunion in 25 years.
Fraser, 57, is back as treasure hunter Rick O’Connell. Weisz, 56, returns as Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan. The two first played the roles in 1999’s The Mummy and came back for 2001’s The Mummy Returns.
Weisz did not appear in the third film, 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, in which Maria Bello played Evelyn. Fraser did appear in it. That makes the new film the fourth Mummy movie for Fraser and the third for Weisz.
The photos show Weisz in a dark red skirt and matching overcoat with a black belt. Fraser wore a brown jacket over a green-and-black flannel shirt, with jeans and boots.
The film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmaking duo behind Scream (2022) and Ready or Not. David Coggeshall wrote the script. The Hollywood Reporter noted in November 2025 that the new film will ignore the events of Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, citing an anonymous source.
Fraser and Weisz were first reported to be returning to the franchise in November 2025. Fraser told French network Canal+ at the Deauville Film Festival in September that production had officially started, and he said on The Tonight Show in May that the film would give fans what they have been asking about for 20 years.
The film is expected to reach theaters on Oct. 15, 2027. Fraser won an Academy Award in 2023 for The Whale. Weisz won hers in 2006 for The Constant Gardener.
A separate, unrelated Mummy film arrived earlier this year. Director Lee Cronin’s horror film starred Jack Reynor and has no connection to the Fraser-and-Weisz franchise.
