Jennifer Coolidge is going back to 657 Boulevard. Netflix confirmed Thursday that she will return as Karen Calhoun in season 2 of The Watcher.

Calhoun is the real estate agent who sold the Brannock family their dream home — the one the threatening letters turned into a nightmare. Coolidge won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for playing Tanya in The White Lotus. She played Calhoun in the first season back in 2022.

She joins the returning cast Netflix announced earlier this month: Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale as Nora and Dean Brannock, Margo Martindale as neighbor Maureen “Mo,” and Isabel Gravitt as their daughter Ellie.

The gap between seasons will be four years. The Watcher premiered in October 2022 and was renewed the next month. Then it went quiet — co-creator Ryan Murphy later said the show would not return in 2024. Production is now set to start this fall in New York. No premiere date has been announced.

What the show is about

The series follows the Brannocks after they buy their suburban dream house, then start getting ominous letters from someone calling himself “The Watcher.” The neighborhood’s secrets come out from there. It is based on Reeves Wiedeman’s New York Magazine article “The Haunting of a Dream House.”

The first season spent five weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV list and landed in the top 10 in more than 90 countries. Ian Brennan, who co-created the show with Murphy, is the showrunner. Crystle Roberson Dorsey will direct season 2.
