Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan Release 'Expectations' Remix
Olivia Rodrigo released her first-ever remix on Thursday: a new version of 'expectations' featuring Chappell Roan, who is making her first-ever guest appearance on another artist's song. A game-show music video arrived with it.

Olivia Rodrigo has released her first-ever remix. The song is “expectations,” a new version featuring Chappell Roan that arrived Thursday at 8 p.m. ET with a music video starring both singers.
The release came through Interscope Records on October 15, two days after Rodrigo announced it on October 13. It marks Roan’s first-ever feature on another artist’s song.
Daniel Nigro produced the track. He has worked extensively with both artists, and the remix keeps his production from the original at its center.
The original “expectations” appeared on Rodrigo’s third album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love,” released in June. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 485,000 first-week units — the biggest solo debut of 2026 — and topped the charts in 17 countries.
The video, directed by Bardia Zeinali, leans into an 80s game-show look. Rodrigo shared a still from the set before release: the pair in tutus on top of a vintage car, Roan in her signature white makeup, Rodrigo with big hair and a bow.
The remix is also getting a physical release. Limited-edition 7-inch vinyls, CDs and cassettes are available for pre-order at both artists’ stores.
The collaboration had been building. Roan opened for Rodrigo on the Guts world tour in 2024, and she performed at Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, California, on August 29. The one-day, women-led event raised $20 million for 10 nonprofits supporting women and girls.
Roan has her own event this week: her two-day charity fundraiser, The Super Graphic Spectacular, runs October 21 and 22 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, with proceeds going to her Midwest Princess Project.
Rodrigo is on the road too. Her sold-out Unraveled Tour kicked off last month, with more than one million tickets sold worldwide.
