Poland arrested a man on Sunday accused of planning an attack on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński announced the arrest. He gave no details about the suspect’s identity or what kind of attack was planned.

Hours earlier, police said they had received information about a possible plot targeting the two men. Security officials, police, and interior ministry representatives held an emergency meeting on Sunday morning.

Jacek Dobrzyński, a spokesman for the minister overseeing Poland’s intelligence services, said authorities took the threat extremely seriously. He said they considered there was a “high probability” it would be carried out.

Tusk wrote on X that “the man threatening an attack has been detained.” He thanked the police for their “swift and decisive action.”

Adam Szłapka, a government spokesman, said Tusk learned of the threat first thing Sunday morning. He said officials receive threats from time to time, but this one was “exceptionally concerning.”

Poland has been on high alert after three school attacks in Mazovia province within four days. One person was killed and several others wounded, including children.

Tusk has also warned of possible Russian hybrid attacks aimed at weakening Western support for Ukraine. Moscow has denied any such plans.
