Russian airstrikes killed seven people in the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Saturday morning, including three children. Aerial bombs hit residential buildings, according to the region’s governor.

Mykhailo Semikin, head of the regional military administration, said the strikes hit several locations at once in the early hours of Saturday. At least 10 people were wounded.

Rescue workers were still searching the rubble for more people, Reuters reported.

The Associated Press reports Ukraine is struggling to counter escalating Russian bombardments that have killed more than 55 people over the past four days. The two countries are locked in a long-range aerial war with the front lines largely unchanged, more than four and a half years since Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The strikes came a day after President Trump announced a deal to buy Russian diesel. Trump said Russia would immediately supply more than 300,000 tons, with more shipments to follow. Kyiv warned the deal would help bankroll Moscow’s war. The announcement marked a sharp reversal from a sanctions law Trump signed last month aimed at Russian oil and gas revenue.
