Alanis Morissette Announces First Holiday Album, ‘Good Weather for Immaculate Conception’
The 14-track record arrives Nov. 6 with Brandi Carlile, Steve Martin on banjo, Martin Short and two new original songs.

Alanis Morissette is making a Christmas album. Good Weather for Immaculate Conception arrives Nov. 6 through Epiphany Music and Virgin Music. It is her first holiday record.
The album runs 14 tracks. Two are new originals: “To an Empath at Christmas Time” and “Christmas on the Dancefloor.” The rest mix standards with holiday singles she has released over the past few years.
The guest list is long. Brandi Carlile sings on “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem,” the lead single, with Steve Martin on banjo. Martin Short closes the record on “Merry Christmas.” Amythyst Kiah joins “Momma Mary,” Joy Oladokun duets on “Silent Night,” and Trans Voices, the U.K.’s first professional trans choir, appears on “O Tannenbaum.”
Other cuts include “O Holy Night,” “What Child Is This?” “Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” “Little Drummer Boy,” “Ave Maria,” “River” and “Last Christmas.”
Morissette has put out holiday songs each December for years. She released “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” in 2020, “Little Drummer Boy” in 2022, a four-song Christmas EP in 2023 and “O Holy Night” last year. All of them are on the album. She called the project “this labor of Christmas love” in a September interview.
The record caps a busy year. She entered the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June and sang the Canadian national anthem at the first World Cup game in Toronto. She toured the U.K. and Europe this summer and made a surprise appearance with Olivia Rodrigo at the Daisy Chain Fields Festival in August, where they performed “Ironic.” Her Butterfly With a Machete residency returns to the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 5, the night before the album arrives.
