Olivia Rodrigo is releasing a Christmas song. She announced it on Monday, and it is her first original holiday single.

The song is called “take me home (4 christmas).” It arrives Thursday, November 5, at 5 p.m. PT and 8 p.m. ET through Interscope Records. The official music video arrives at the same time.

Rodrigo shared the news on social media. “my first Christmas song ‘take me home (4 christmas)’ is out this Thursday at 5 pm pt/ 8 pm ET!! you can preorder it now. im so excited!!” she wrote.

She wrote the song with Dan Nigro and Amy Allen. Nigro produced it. Nigro has been Rodrigo’s longtime collaborator, and Allen is a songwriter with a run of recent pop hits.

An unlikely video cast

The video stars Cynthia Nixon and Ben Marshall alongside Rodrigo. Nixon played Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City. Marshall is a Saturday Night Live cast member and part of the comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy.

No plot details for the video have been released. The casting is the part that has drawn the most attention so far, pairing a prestige television actor with a sketch comedian for a holiday single.

Rodrigo’s webstore describes the song as being about the excitement and nerves of spending the holidays with someone you love. The physical editions list a B-side called “miss this christmas.”

Vinyl and cassette

An exclusive 7-inch vinyl and a cassette are available for preorder on Rodrigo’s website. The 7-inch will also be sold at Target starting Friday, November 6.

The single follows a busy stretch for Rodrigo. She released an “expectations” remix with Chappell Roan in October, and she is on her Unraveled Tour, supporting her third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.

Christmas singles are a crowded field, and the ones that last tend to arrive early and stick around. Rodrigo’s entry lands three weeks before Thanksgiving, with a video cast built to get people talking before anyone has heard a note.
